Brian manages many of the climate change efforts at MJB&A. Brian heads up the U.S. Carbon Offset Acquisition Initiative, a joint project with The Climate Trust, to identify, evaluate, and purchase carbon offsets from projects through an RFP solicitation process. Brian also manages the Northeast Regional Greenhouse Coalition, a multi-sector industry coalition that participates in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and the Eastern Climate Registry stakeholder processes. Since he came to MJB&A in 1998, Brian has also been active in the development of accounting, reporting and verification protocols for corporate greenhouse gas inventories and project based reductions. In 2004, Brian facilitated the California Climate Action Registry's Power/Utility Protocol Workgroup, an effort to develop an industry-specific protocol to supplement the California Registry's General Reporting and Certification Protocols.
His activities also include evaluating clients' greenhouse gas inventories, reporting to registries (regional and federal), and advising clients on the risks and opportunities associated with emerging domestic and international climate change policies. Finally, Brian routinely tracks and investigates state, regional, and federal climate change policy activities in the U.S. and abroad and manages the U.S. Climate Policy Service, which includes a web-based information service and newsletter focusing on emerging climate change policy. Brian came to MJB&A from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs where he worked with the Director of Air Policy and Planning for the Commonwealth.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and
Environmental Studies from Providence College and a Certificate in
Community and Environmental Studies from Tufts University.
