M.J. Bradley & Associates (MJB&A) and Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. recently developed a report for the United
States Department of Transportation's (USDOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Dana
Lowell, a senior consultant at MJB&A, was an author of the report.
The report,
Guidelines for Use of Hydrogen Fuel in Commercial Vehicles, is intended to be a safety reference for commercial
vehicle fleet owners and operators that use vehicles or auxiliary power units powered by hydrogen fuel. The
document provides owners and operators of commercial vehicles with a basic understanding of the properties and
characteristics of hydrogen, descriptions of the types of systems that might use hydrogen fuel on commercial vehicles,
and practical guidelines for the safe use of hydrogen, both on vehicles and in vehicle maintenance and storage
facilities.
The report is available for download from the
FMCSA Technology Division website.
