June Meeting of EPA's Sulfur Hexafluoride Emission Reduction Partnership for Electric Power Systems
At the June meeting of EPA's SF6 Emission Reduction Partnership for Electric Power Systems,
Brian Jones of MJB&A discussed the opportunities for reducing sulfur hexafluoride (SF6)
emissions in the electric utility sector to create carbon offsets under the Regional Greenhouse Gas
Initiative (RGGI). The SF6 Partnership is a collaborative effort between EPA and
the electric power industry to identify and implement cost-effective solutions to reduce SF6
emissions. SF6 is a highly potent greenhouse gas used in the industry for
insulation and current interruption in electric transmission and distribution equipment.
MJB&A is working with Climate Change Capital to implement SF6 reduction projects.
