M.J.
Bradley & Associates LLC
(MJB&A) recently advised Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) in
preparing its 2009 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) response.
The scores of responding companies were released September 21, 2009, in
New York. PHI scored 87 out of a possible 100 points on the
Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), placing it third within the
domestic utilities sector behind PG&E (88) and PSEG
(88). PHI’s score also placed the company in the top 10
percent of all S&P companies. The highest score of
all Climate Disclosure Leadership sectors went to Comerica, within the
financial sector, with a score of 91. The other utilities in
the top tier included Xcel Energy (85), DTE Energy (84), FPL Group
(82), Consolidated Edison (79), and Entergy (78).
MJB&A
assisted PHI in collecting and streamlining data on the
company’s achievements in reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
and its active commitment to increasing supplies of renewable energy,
initiating energy efficiency programs, environmental protection and
resource conservation, and the effectiveness of the company’s
Environmental Management System (EMS). MJB&A also
supported PHI in updating their 2006 CDP response to correspond to the
new 2009 CDP performance scoring methodology. The CDP scores
measure companies’ current actions and future goals in response to the
risks and opportunities of climate change, and their performance in
reducing their contribution to climate change.
