Tom joined MJB&A in 1997 and currently directs the technical services group staff in the MJB&A’s Manchester New Hampshire office, which was founded in 1999. Tom has 23 years of professional experience managing pollution control design, transportation engineering and air permitting projects. Tom has a specific focus and knack for developing, demonstrating and evaluating advanced technologies in both the electric generating and transportation sectors including advanced emission control and system efficiency improvement technologies.
Tom assists a wide variety of clients, public and private, in strategic environmental planning as well as participating directly in project development and management. Tom has systematically expanded MJB&A’s strategic capabilities with technical competencies and requisite staff to include emission and performance testing of diesel, hybrid electric and alternative fueled vehicles. Tom’s extensive combustion experience and systems analysis expertise has resulted in a wide diversity of advanced technology and emission mitigation demonstration projects including diesel engines, electric generating boilers and gas turbines as well as sector expertise with electric and hybrid-electric vehicles, trucks and buses, construction equipment, locomotives and marine vessels.
During his tenure at MJB&A, Tom also worked with London-based Climate Change Capital (CCC) from 2008 to 2010 as a managing director primarily responsible for evaluating carbon mitigation projects and technologies in the U.S. and abroad. Before joining MJB&A, Tom worked for EMCON Environmental Consulting, assisting predominately private sector clients in developing air emission inventories, environmental databases and several EPA Major Source Title V air operating permit applications as well as numerous emission control technology assessments relative to BACT, LAER or RACT requirements.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Mechanical Engineering (nuclear; thermal/fluids) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Tom is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).
Tom is an avid sports car collector, an amateur photographer, and has a particular affinity for Thai food.
